Roberto Bongiovanni
Musician graduated in Orchestral Conducting, in Choral Music and Choral Conducting, in Composition, in Piano, in Didactics of Music, in recent years he has brought together the numerous experiences gained in the various musical fields in the Orchestra Direction, making it his main activity, receiving wide acclaim from both the public and critics.
Musicologist oversaw the revision and performance of unpublished music from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. century by authors such as A. Scarlatti, S. Bolis, L. Leo, P. Terziani, G.B. Pergolesi, A. Bencini, G. Capocci. He has collaborated with orchestras and concert organizations including the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the ORL, the Orchestra of Rome and Lazio, the Polimnia Ensemble, the Massimo Freccia Foundation, the Symphonic Orchestra City of Grosseto, and with renowned foreign institutions: Balearic Symphony Orchestra (Palma de Mallorca), Symphony Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias (Oviedo), Symphony Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio (Sofia), Czech National Symphony Orchestra (Prague). The repertoire ranges from chamber music to the sacred genre with particular attention to the direction of opera and the Italian romantic and realist repertoire.
He was permanent director of the “Roman Symphony Orchestra” of Rome (eg. At the lyric seasons of Aulico – Opera & Musica at the Capranica Theater in Rome, in works such as Tosca, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Madama Butterfly, Il barbiere di Siviglia, L ‘elixir of love, …); Chapel Master of the “Venerable Vatican Archconfraternity of Sant’Anna de’ Parafrenieri “in Rome (1999-2000), for which he composed and directed his music and pieces from the classical polyphonic repertoire; Director of the Aureus Concentus Orchestra of Rome (1995-’99), specialized in the performance of unpublished Italian music of the ‘700 and’ 800, performing alongside internationally renowned artists (T. Pinnock, F. Brüggen, Trio Matisse, Il Giardino Armonico, G. Sokolov, D. Ranki, B. Lupo, JI Thibaudet, etc.) and on prestigious occasions (e.g. in 1995 he directs the worldwide Mass celebrated by St. John Paul II in the fourth centenary of the death of S. Filippo Neri); Director of the “White Voices Choir” of the “Middle School annexed to the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome” (1996 -98), guiding the choir in the interpretation of the classical polyphonic repertoire.
He recorded for RAI; Bulgarian National Radio, Vatican Radio; Tele Pace; Gold Network; RTR, and others and for EMI; Bixio – Cemsa; Moto Contrario and other record companies. He participated in the soundtracks of the films “Wax mask”, “Vanilla and chocolate”, “Wedding in the Bahamas”, “Sexy comedy”, “I absolve you”, “I get married at Christmas”. and of the TV series “Avvocato Porta”, “Never with paintings”, “The XV epistola”.
He has recently finished the recording of a monographic CD on Pergolesi as orchestra conductor with the Opera Ensemble of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, on the occasion of the three hundredth anniversary of the composer’s birth. Among the pieces he has included an unpublished concert for flute which he has recovered, revised and now in the process of being published.
